We look at them from town as the crown jewels of the Moab area, why not get up close and personal? The flight starts off with a boom, flying past the Monitor and Merrimac, Gemini Bridges, Jeep Arch, Poison Spider and Amasa Back. We then cross town and skirt the east side of Moab with spectacular views of the red rocks surrounding the area. We’ll fly past Ken’s Lake and venture up Pack Creek, passing the famous Pack Creek Ranch. Edward Abbey wrote part of the Monkey Wrench Gang here! From there it is up to the peaks of Mt. Peale and Mt. Mellenthin. The flight plan takes us over Fins and Things, Hell’s Revenge and the Slickrock 4X4  and mountain bike trails. Our trip home will pass just west of Arches over the Sovereign Trail System and back to the Moab Heli X facilities.

Safety is paramount to all our tours. Our helicopters are meticulously maintained. Since we do venture into remote places we carry a full array of communications equipment including a satellite phone, portable tracking device, as well as onboard Emergency Locator Transmitters. Each aircraft is also equipped with survival and medical equipment.

Moab Heli X operates the Robinson R44 II and R66 Turbine Helicopters.

The R44’s aerodynamic fuselage optimizes airspeed and fuel economy. Hydraulic controls eliminate feedback forces and provide responsive handling. A low tail-rotor tip speed, newly designed muffler, and large cambered tail reduce flyover noise. These four-seat helicopters are high-performing, reliable, and easy to maintain. With a great view from any seat, and the latest in Robinson technology, our aircraft are a great way to view the vast and remote areas that Moab has to offer.

Raven II helicopters are powered by a Lycoming IO-540 fuel-injected engine. The IO-540 delivers better altitude performance and increased payload.

R66 TURBINE five-seat helicopters are reliable, economical, and easy to maintain. The R66’s spacious 300 lb capacity baggage compartment along with the powerful Rolls Royce RR300 turbine engine provides greater utility. The lightweight RR300 engine operates on readily available Jet A fuel, delivering increased reserve power, additional payload, and improved altitude performance. The R66 meets the FAA’s current crashworthiness regulations with energy-absorbing seats and a crash-worthy fuel system.

Every heli-adventure is different. Check with Moab Heli X for a list of gear needed.
